Two guest lectures by prof. Mojmir Mrak

Professor Mojmir Mrak, from the University of Ljubljana, held two guest lectures for students of Faculty of Economics, University of Montnegro on April 6, 2023, at 12.30 pm. The topic of the firist lecture was „EU budget under the COVID crisis“, while the second was „Euro-area governance: past developments, recent trends and perspectives”.

Students currently enrolled on the course International Economics, led by professor Danijela Jaćimović, took part in the lecture.

The notion of EU public finances, the medium-term financial framework, the yearly budget, and the COVID crisis as a catalyst for a new generation of the EU budget were all discussed by professor Mrak in the first lecture.

In the second lecture, Professor Mrak focused on two specific time periods in his presentation to clarify the idea of economic governance in the EU/Euro area: the era prior to the global financial crisis and, on the other hand, the post-crisis period, which was marked by the reform of governance. Professor Mrak also offered insight into the EU/Euro region during the Covid-19 outbreak and put up a number of suggestions for the future.

Mojmir Mrak is a full professor at School of Economic and Business, University of Ljubljana who has been teaching on a regular basis also as a visiting professor at universities in Vienna (Austria), Siena (Italy), Dijon (France) and Podgorica (Montenegro). He has published extensively and has participated actively at numerous conferences, seminars and workshops on EU economic issues. Mojmir Mrak has been a member of Slovenian EU accession negotiation team as well as of the country’s team negotiating EU multi-annual financial frameworks 2007-2013, 2014-2020 and 2021-2027.
