Single Market and the EU Competition Policy

This course is available as part of the Masters programme: Economics, in the module Economic Policy (Note: post-graduate academic studies are two years, 4 semesters, 120 ECTS).

Course content:

Studying establishment and development of single EU market that is based on four economic freedoms, with analysis of the competition policy of EU.

Teaching: No. of lessons per week: 4 Lectures + 2 Exercises

Course outcomes:

The course will: (i) strengthen capacity of the students to understand appropriately functioning of EU single market and characteristics of implementation of four economic freedoms; (ii) contribute towards broadening knowledge about the EU competition policy and its implementation in Montenegro, (iii) in the short term this course will help students in education about current European integration process, (iv) in the long term this knowledge will help students in finding future jobs related to different economic and trade activities or work in public institutions connected to EU matters;

Methodologies:

Lectures, exercises, seminars, tests, consultations, debate on exercises and during presentations on selected seminars in certain scientific areas.  The material of the lectures will be uploaded/distributed before the classes and the students are requested to familiarize themselves with them and to prepare questions for the discussions in classes. The teaching will be supported by guest lecturing from the EU professors (Tepsa) network and the China.

Literature:

The module literature will be classical world textbooks on EU economic, European economy and integration, European competition policy and books from authors from Economic faculty.

Guest lecturers will be invited to the class. The students should focus on the recommended textbooks and recommended journal articles.
